Mobility Score

With one passport selected this is simply its own score. With 2 or more, it's estimated using a simplified diminishing-returns model — not a full bilateral visa-waiver union.

Passport Index FAQ

Not yet. This preview currently indexes 199 passports (all 193 UN member states plus a handful of widely-tracked non-UN territories such as Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan) with mobility scores derived from published visa-free access counts. It is not connected to a live visa-policy API — figures are refreshed manually, not in real time.

Each passport's score (0–100) is a normalized composite of its visa-free, visa-on-arrival, and eVisa access across tracked destinations, in the same spirit as published passport power indices. It is a relative ranking tool for orientation, not an official government metric.

It's a simplified estimate, not a true union of each passport's individual visa waivers (which would require a full bilateral access matrix). The tool applies a diminishing-returns model so a second or third passport meaningfully raises your mobility floor without double-counting overlapping access — useful for orientation, not for a final decision on which second citizenship to pursue.

Yes. Visa-waiver agreements are bilateral diplomatic arrangements and can be suspended, renegotiated, or expanded by either government at any time — a factor to weigh alongside a program's investment cost and processing time when comparing options.
