THE INDOHILL RESIDENCE LOG

Residence is shown, not claimed.

Log where you spend your days. See totals per country against the 183-day benchmark, and test planned trips against the Schengen 90/180 rule. Private by design: your log never leaves this browser.

Indicative only. Tax-residence tests differ by country and also look at where your home and ties are. A day count is evidence, not a verdict. Read the relocation playbook.

WHAT THE NUMBERS DO AND DO NOT MEAN

183 days is a benchmark, not a rule

Many countries treat presence of more than 183 days in a tax year as residence, but the threshold, the way days are counted and the tax year itself all differ. Others look first at whether you have a permanent home available, or where your family and economic ties are strongest, whatever the day count. Where two countries both claim you, a tax treaty's tie-breaker rules decide, and nationality comes last.

Schengen 90/180 is a rolling window

Short stays in the Schengen area are generally limited to 90 days in any rolling 180-day period, counted back from each day of the stay. The tool lists the Schengen countries, applies the rolling window and tests planned trips. It is a planning aid: always confirm the rules that apply to your nationality and permit, since residence permits and national visas can change the position.

Keep the evidence behind the log

Authorities test a day count against documents: passport stamps, boarding passes, card statements, rental agreements, utility bills. A log helps you notice drift before it matters; the documents are what prove it. See the residence file in our relocation playbook.

A permit does not move tax residence

Holding a residence permit somewhere does not by itself make you tax resident there, or end tax residence elsewhere. Read citizenship, residency and tax residency before relying on any status for tax.
